How To Gain A Festive Flavour In Your Salon This Christmas

How To Gain A Festive Flavour In Your Salon This Christmas

December has arrived, and we can almost smell the chestnuts in the air… That’s largely down to seeing a welcome Christmas spin on our streets, thawing out the festive spirit once again. Do you work in a salon? Great – you have carte blanche approval to do the same, creating a warm, seasonal environment for your customers!

Doing the Christmas makeover well isn’t just for our own pleasure or novelty. It’ll entice more people to visit, and boost sales through clever promotional work. These are our thoughts for adapting your hair and beauty venue.

Break out the decorations

Who’s ever tired of Christmas clichés? The admirable thing about baubles, holly and fairy lights is that there are no rules; they can be arranged however you like. A salon mirror looks amazing with an added, glittering frame of silver tinsel, whilst overhead decorations – like paper snowflakes – are a delight when your customers are lying back in the hair prep chair.

There’ll be an obligatory Christmas tree, of course, but make sure it ties into the two or three aesthetic moods your salon can take. By this, we mean sticking to several seasonal colours: red and gold, for instance, or green and silver. You might even reward long-term clients with a little present under the tree, ready for them to take away on your last day of service for 2017.

Use quirky product displays

Usually, people don’t like direct salesmanship when they’re sitting in a salon. But the run-up to Noel is different – they’re on the hunt for gifts, so you can afford to show off what you have for their stockings and wish lists.

Think, then, on how to sell your beauty products in the best light. We mean this literally; by making your stock luminous on a fantastic display cabinet, it’ll be tough for anyone to ignore them. Buy a glass display case and place it under a couple of LED spotlights. Some already have a built-in LED function, ready for fixing to the wall.

Try to position your showcase so it’s reflected in a handful of mirrors whilst customers are being treated. That way, you double their exposure to it, from greeting the team through the door to settling down and enjoying the view.

Offer special snacks and drinks

Half the luxury of this time of year is the rich, seemingly infinite food and drink we consume. A lot of salons offer tea or coffee as standard – with a smattering of mints by the cash register – but we can do much more than that to fit the palette of the season. A glass of home-made mulled wine will go down very well. Offer a single serving, and leave non-alcoholic Christmas drinks in reserve, such as a tall hot chocolate topped with cream and flake shavings.

In terms of a light snack, you might have mince pies available – just one treat per customer is going to get them in the festive mood. Other morsels include cookies, gingerbread reindeers, truffles and slices of Christmas cake.

Over December, we’ll also be lending some advice on achieving the same seasonal feel with salon tunics and trousers, so keep an eye on our blog. Until then, look through the La Beeby store for your next, gorgeous wardrobe for the New Year, or as a present to you and your team before the Christmas break.
